Soay sheep fleece delivery...

Posted by Zoe Fletcher on Thursday, June 25, 2015

I have found that best way to find things is to ask friends who know friends who know friends who do things/have things that I am currently looking for! So when my amazing friend Becca put me in contact with a great artist Christine who happened to keep a few Soay sheep, I jumped at the chance to talk to her. She has 3 beauties in her back yard (well paddock!), and donates the fleeces from them each year - and lucky for me this year it was me! She very kindly let us come and visit, take some pictures and also pick up the fleece! I can't wait to use it in my next project (lots of ideas for it...just not sure when I can squeezed it in!)

Look at these lovely ladies...

Graduating with Distinction from a Masters in Fashion and the Environment at London College of Fashion, specialising in hand-knitting and the British Wool Industry, I have worked on a number of knitwear collections (personal and external companies), whilst freelancing and researching for a number of exciting projects. My work revolves around the idea of sustainable fashion from a knitted perspective and the different ways to achieve this incorporating the ideas of slow fashion into mainstream society. I love knitting. And wool. And double sided sticky tape.
